Thanks for stopping by and welcome to One School Hill. I wanted a special place where I could share all things teaching and I hope that you will come along for the ride :)
So..... at our school (like many others) we use the Daily 5/CAFE program. I LOVE it and I love nothing more than standing back and watching all my students independently working away, it really is the best! However, I was getting a little worried that maybe some children weren't practicing their comprehension strategies and wanted something to make sure that everyone was on task and getting the most out of their reading activities. To solve my little dilemma, I created 'Superhero Comprehension Cards'.
There are 20 task cards that get students really thinking about what they are reading and offer the opportunity for students to question and evaluate texts together and independently. My kids love the fun superhero characters and can't wait to use them in our reading sessions.
The cards are numbered 1 to 20 so that as teachers we can cater for each student by telling them which cards they need to work on at any one time. This then provides the chance for students to report back to the group and helps you as a teacher to know that your students are getting the most out of their reading- yay!!
At our school, each student has their own set. As you can see below, they are cut out, laminated and then placed on a craft ring (not sure if that is what you call them?!). Click on the picture below to grab your own set and make your students reading superheroes!
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a lovely week!
